There's no doubt, 2024 has been the year of AI
With groundbreaking achievements and advancements from everyone in frontier AI development, including OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, it's clear: we are on a march towards an AI-enhanced world. This has become a prevalent theme in much of the tech world. There's not much that is untouched by AI's hand, and the website industry is no different. Nearly every website builder platform is now aggressively marketing their AI capabilities. The claims are equally aggressive. You can create a website, instantly, filled with content. And that website can perform better than the other websites in your industry. It's very impressive.
Obviously, Articulation's marketing and copy is notably absent of this angle.
You are the best advocate for your business
As impressive as AI has become, with new developments rapidly arriving, it simply doesn't have the experience of running your business. The computer doesn't have the memories of the long days of hard work it took to make your business successful. The computer doesn't know the sacrifices you've made; the passion you have for your business. It doesn't know your community, your partners, your friends and family that helped you get to this point.
It only knows what it was prompted by the website builder. More often than not, to save costs, the prompt is pretty tiny: "make website copy for a dentist in Houston, TX." Your business, your livelihood, is distilled down to a sentence fragment.
The underlying AI provider sends back some fairly generic text. Content is filled instantly. Your website is ready.
Sure, but it's easy
We couldn't agree more. The power of AI is very impressive, and we view it as a great tool when building things at Articulation. Namely around our website migration products, where we use it very successfully. We're excited to continue to do so, as it helps our speed of iteration around parsing different types of websites with different content.
But we don't use it for content, and you shouldn't either. You've worked hard on your business. You know how to market it better than anyone, especially AI.
It's bad for your business
Search engines are fully aware of the fundamental threat that AI has posed for search results, and have started to penalize websites with obviously AI-driven content. If every single website has the same content, it's incredibly difficult for them to present you with accurate and fair results for your searches. Your website, with the same content as everyone else in your industry, will not stand out and likely won't even rank. Your instant website is instantly costing you leads, sales and money.
Your content is better than AI
We're business owners just like you, and we know how important it is to realize: nobody will ever advocate harder for your business than you. You're more capable than anyone else at writing content focused on your success. You don't need the AI.
